Ⅱ、Introduction

Metallurgy engineering is the engineering and technology subject that studies the production of metal and metallic compounds from one or other resources, and the production of metallic materials with good economic value and performance. Based on chemistry, physics, mathematics, materials science and others, combined with computer science, applied mathematics and other high-tech fields of the latest developments, metallurgical engineering subject researches the chemical reaction rules, momentum, energy, mass transfer and interaction laws of complex systems among multi-phases and multi-components in metallurgical production process. It is also the fundamental theory and technology of separation of metal or compound, enrichment, purification, recycling, materialization, and product technology and high-performance products. As well as associated with the analysis, testing, process development, reactor (equipment) development, process control and information, the efficient clean utilization of resources, recycling of waste resources and secondary resources, energy conservation and environmental protection and so on. With the rapid development of science and technology, the connotation of metallurgical engineering expands continuously. After absorbing the latest achievements of relevant subjects and engineering technology, some interdisciplinary and new fields formed. At the national post-graduate subject catalogue, this subject belongs to first-level engineering subject, has three second-level subjects: metallurgical physical chemistry (080601), ferrous metallurgy (080602) and nonferrous metallurgy (080603).

The predecessor of metallurgical engineering was rare element engineering in Chengdu institute and technology established in 1959. After 50 years of development from rare elements to chemical metallurgy, from non-ferrous metallurgy to metallurgical engineering, it has made an important contribution to Chinese " two bombs-one satellite "and the nuclear industry. Currently there are two key subjects of Sichuan province: non-ferrous metallurgy and ferrous metallurgy, a first-level master's degree authorization. Metallurgical engineering subject has established many cooperation with domestic large metallurgical enterprises to research and joint training. There are thirty teachers including ten professors, six doctoral supervisors, thirteen associate professors and senior engineers, six lecturers, an associate engineer. Young teachers accounted for two-thirds, 90 percent of teachers have doctorates.

In recent years, metallurgical engineering subject took the national "863 Project", national natural science foundation of China and general programs, more than 20 national projects and major projects of enterprise. Distinct characteristics and prospect of research fields including the metallurgical process intensification, new metallurgical process development and design, new materials and energy devices were involved. In China and abroad, metallurgical engineering has made remarkable achievements and influence in melting of vanadium titanium and deep processing of vanadium and titanium resources, engineering of large submerged arc furnace, special alloy, powder metallurgy, preparation of non-ferrous metals and compound powder material.

Length of schooling and years of study

The academic master's degree is 3 years, and the longest length of schooling is not more than 4 years.

Credit

The minimum requirement for master: 34 credits.
